To make an interesting story you need a storyline with many different realistic problems, the author wants you to feel like your in the book. It should feel like your in all the chaos. An interesting story should have life or death situations, something that makes you want to read more. Having action in the story where all characters have an important part in the book is what makes up a good story. If there are characters that have nothing to do with the plot then they shouldn’t be in the book. Characters in each story are constantly making decisions and one bad decision changes everything, which is why I think more characters should make the wrong decision or choice. To make the book interesting you also have to make each and every character different in a unique way and portray their strengths and weaknesses. Their strengths should help them problem solve and their weaknesses should help create climax. A good book/story should take place in a unique area(s) for example maze runner, it takes place in a unique area, a maze. A good story doesn’t only have one problem but they should also have smaller problems in between everything. Overall a good story never should feel like you have to ‘get through a chapter’,you should be getting lost in your book.
Ted Talks Wendy Suzuki talks about how doing exercise will help our brain. She explains the benefits of moving your body. She moves the audience while speaking because she explains a personal story with facts, getting the audience excited to learn more about the brain and the impacts it has on you. She talks to the audience in a motivational way getting them to think about what they should start doing to help themselves. Some facts she informs us are ‘how it can help prevent illnesses like depression, Alzheimer's etc, she also explains the parts of the brain that have to do with exercise. As mental illnesses increase through teens it’s very important to try to prevent students from depression, anxiety, dementia etc. You can’t cure theses diseases but you can prevent them from happening sooner. As grade nines, being new to high school can become extremely stressful, from your school to social life. Not doing enough exercise can impact your whole life negatively. In the video Wendy left everyone with one thought and she said “bringing exercise in your life will not only give you a happier, more productive life today, but it will protect you brain from incurable diseases. And in this way it will change the trajectory of your life for the better”. This message moves me and everyone else hearing it because one simple activity in your life can change the way you feel. Wendy demonstrates an excited tone in her voice to get the audience excited too. She also makes sure their listening by asking questions or making them feel like their included in the conversation. When giving off positive energy somebody else begins to think positive and that’s exactly what she did. Being informative is also key when trying to prove a point, every time she said something she would support it with facts. With this amount of information about how exercise benefits the brain, we can change everybody's life. https://www.ted.com/talks/wendy_suzuki_the_brain_changing_benefits_of_exercise
Mythology Election Campaign (After 2nd class)
After a couple days of doing the mythology election campaign, we have Ares the god of war. This is not the ideal god to have because it will be harder to convince the audience that he should be president. Although we are trying to put a good spin on Ares. Problems we are encountering are finding stories of Ares where he does something good, but in each story usually, has him being humiliated, or involved in a war. As we keep learning about Ares we usually find ways to make him seem like a good person. Learning about Ares personality is not hard to understand, many websites give specific details on what he was like, although they’re not good. It’s hard to add good traits about him when he was the reason for many wars and a tempered person. Finding “dirt” on people will help us because we won’t have much of a target on our back because the name ‘explains everything’. Since Ares is the god of war it is very easy to come up with an eye-catching slogan such as ‘fighting for what’s right’ or ‘fighting to make a difference’. Using his weaknesses and changing them into strengths is what will help him become elected. Mythology Campaign (after project) In our Ares campaign, I learned that Ares was not a good god and he did many bad things to different people. For example, he’s killed and betrayed many people. Something we were struggling with was finding stories that showed Ares as a good person. To make it seem like he was a good god we had to take out details in stories. Finding good characteristics of him is also difficult because you have to think deeper than what the stories tell you. We thought of him as a leader and determined god. We also learned that Ares was hated by other gods because of his aggression. With all these stories we used them to our advantage by twisting it up to make him seem like a good god. Twisting up the stories helped because people slowly got convinced and finding ‘dirt’ on the other gods were easy because no many people would target us since we have one of the worst gods. Having one of the worst gods helped because nobody wanted the obvious gods to win meaning Ares could have a chance of being top 5. Something new I learned about Ares is that he was not loved or cared about because nobody trusted him.
What I think makes a hero/who are my heroes
To be a hero I think you have to be brave, selfless and always fighting for what’s right. To be brave you can second guess yourself, being confident is a characteristic every hero needs to have because that’s how they keep everyone else calm. Every hero is selfless because they are always doing something to help others nothing for themselves. This also means that their caring to everyone else no matter who they are. A hero also fights for what’s right, this is because they are saving people and the community, not because they have to but because they want to. I can’t think of people who i’d call my hero but there are many people in my life who show some of the characteristics for example friends and family but nobody specific. There are no famous people who I would call my hero because I don’t truly know them. If somebody was close to becoming my hero it would be more than one person such as my best friends and family members.
Twelfth Night letter
(Viola (as Cesario) to Orsino persuading him to do his own bidding.) November 7, 1601 Orsino’s house Dear Orsino, To show you truly love Olivia you have to do something romantic. If you want to do something very romantic you physically have to do it. By getting up and doing it yourself you will show Olivia that you truly love her because you're doing it face to face not through somebody else. It’s more meaningful for you to do it yourself than somebody else do it for you. If you want to be romantic and have her fall in love with you, you should get up and do it yourself. This won’t only show you as a passionate person but as a caring person. Once Olivia sees that you are romantic and caring she will immediately fall in love. Going over to Olivia’s house, speaking your love towards her and giving her a ‘token of your love’ will win her over. If I do this it doesn’t feel as personal because she’s not seeing you face to face. Love is something you have to tell yourself without you she will think of it as just a nice gesture, but with you, she will think of it as something incredibly kind. If you didn’t do it Olivia might get annoyed. Think about it you’re only sending people to tell how much you love her. Unless you're doing it yourself I would get annoyed too. Olivia will fall in love with you if you would put an effort into this relationship, right now your showing her that you don’t truly want her. If you wanted her you would put all your heart in something you did or made for her. Sincerely, Cesario

Twelfth Night Dear Maria, I understand that Sir Andrew Aguecheek isn’t the brightest but if I kicked him out he would be confused and have no food, shelter or life in general. Sir Andrew Aguecheek may not be the brightest but at darker times his humor sometimes lightens the mood. Sir Andrew also made friends with Sir Toby. If Sir Andrew left Sir Toby might leave with him because they are such good friends. Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are just bonding the trouble their making will only last for so long before it dies down. Having a well-organized house is just boring. We need a little change in here, something that will reduce the tension Malvolio puts on us. Sir Andrew is just the person to add some fun into the house. Although he can get out of hand sometimes that is something we can easily fix. If Sir Andrew was such a fool and stupid then how come he always finds ways to come back at the rude comments you throw at him. He may not be the smartest but he is clever when he’s trying to make you seem dumb. Nobody is born smart they simply learn everything as they grow up and Sir Andrew hasn’t gotten taught correctly a few months here and he will be a new person. Overall Sir Andrew may not be smart now but he does lighten up the mood and give a little change in this house. It was much needed after the tragedy of my brother. Sincerely, Olivia

First Blog Entry to Glass Castle
The book i’m currently reading is called ‘The Glass Castle’. So far I’ve read about fifty pages and not one chapter was ‘dull’. The plot has me on my toes each and every chapter. It not only feels realistic but it feels like your in the book witnessing all of the commotion. The plot makes you start to think about what was going through those characters heads. You start to understand these characters and what their like because of all the detail. It’s hard to believe that this is based off of a true story because of all the emotions you would have to go through. Each and every character is interesting in their own uniqueness and way of thinking. The author is the main character, meaning her writing style is much more specific than other writers. She somehow makes the words so personal and emotional Jeannette hooks the audience. This is an amazing book so far but I definitely could push myself to do a bit more although I think it is a great choice to choose when your not a big reader and you have a busy life. I think that the brother of Jeannette will stay with her parents but the other sisters will have a successful life. I can also say that the parents have stayed the same because when Jeannette met up with her mother for lunch she was dumpster diving just before. This could mean that they haven’t changed their ways of living life.
